:: i heard the baby sparrows' wings flapping in the bird house the other day and i knew it wouldn't be long before they were ready to fly. the babies were reaching almost completely out of the hole to get their food. the house is empty now.

:: a found cocoon 8.08.09. this little guy wiggled, which i remember reading, the wiggling is a natural instinct to ward off predators.

:: the cocoon emerged 8.12.09. we searched some internet sites and through many photographs and have yet to uncover this one's identity. I'll have dad do some more investigating.
:: the empty cocoon, a golden amber
:: playsilks being used in building a fort, today, these remind me of sails. while i was hoping that the playsilks would make it over to our playstands for fort making and such, i am delighted to be invited over to the magic room to cuddle.

:: a shipping box provided a quiet morning of painting. i found myself enjoying my little one's puzzle for a short time until she came to see what i was up to. some beans were picked from the garden. treasures found at a state park were sorted. my daughter was so delighted to find the peach pit on the beach. the smooth beach pebbles were brought in to be explored in our sensory box. the sand was smuggled over to the play kitchen. the funnel always provides lots of fun for my little one.

:: spending time at the pond

:: discoveries made along the way. pine cones with thorns. maple leaves displaying some fall color. the vibrant green acorns. a lady bug.
