nature scavenger hunt
After more than a week of successfully being able to follow my lactation specialist plan to correct my supply, another bout of mastitis set in. The baby's fussiness had started decreasing and he was just starting to sleep better. I had 3 nights of an extended sleep period, which allowed for a much needed drink!! The mastitis put me in bed for a few days. Stuck inside, I utilized these nature scavenger hunt cards with my little girl.

The most beautiful pearl ever
Last week, my little girl returned with an oyster shell from her grandparent's house, in addition to 2 toys (from the toy store). She has been carrying the shell around in her basket all week. Her story about the shell has progressed with each passing day . . . deep in the ocean . . . something shiny caught their eye . . . the purple area is where the pearl was . . . it started with a speck of sand . . . it grew bigger and bigger and bigger . . . and it was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEARL EVER. I wish that always the grandparent's could see that the most beautiful gift they can share with her is time . . . time to hear her stories . . . time to share stories . . . time to share in nature. While the toy-store toys get tossed in a pile with all the others and later when the pile gets too big they are shipped out, it is the shell that captivates her mind & imagination and nurtures her sense of wonder.

Frozen fruit project
Last night's berries were a little tart. Don't you love that lip smacking sound & funny faces that a sour taste provokes.
This medley of frozen fruit is too fun not to eat. Have your little one arrange fresh fruit in a small bowl, followed by pouring in some water to cover the fruit. Then, freeze overnight. Your little one will enjoy the process of melting the ice and eating each berry as it is exposed.
